What are the side effects of marigold?

Marigold Extract Allergy

The extract of the marigold (Tagetes erecta), also commonly known as stinky hibiscus, is widely used in cosmetics, skin care products, and certain dietary supplements due to its supposed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and other health benefits. However, just like any plant extract, marigold extract may also cause allergic reactions in some people.

If you experience allergic symptoms to marigold extract, they may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Skin reactions

Redness, itching, swelling or rash, especially after using skin care products containing marigold extract or direct contact.

Respiratory reactions

Sneezing, runny nose, itchy throat, asthma attacks, etc., especially when inhaling air containing marigold flower powder or extract.

Eye discomfort

Itchy, red or watery eyes.

Digestive symptoms

Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea, which may be a reaction to eating foods or supplements containing marigold extract.
